Mumbai Travel Guide

with Rey Vakili

A former assistant to influential editor Anna Wintour, Rey has long been a major style muse of ours at the s t e e l e . studio. We love her playful, yet perennial style that fuses bright hues with adventurous, feminine silhouettes.

Rey profiled Mumbai for us during her recent travels to the effervescent, Indian city. India is close to our hearts, as we have many suppliers and artisans based here, so we absolutely could not wait to get some insight on the vibrant city of Mumbai from Rey.

What brings you to Mumbai?

One of my classmates from Stanford is getting married here. If you’ve ever been to an Indian wedding you will know they are quite the extravagant affair with festivities that span over several days.

What do you love about India?

There are so many things to love; the food, the textiles, the jewels, the spices, the colours, the endless hustle and bustle. My favourite thing about India however has to be it’s warm and hospitable people.

Packing Essentials:

Mumbai is one of the most fashion forward cities in India, opt on the side of comfortable and conservative. Long, flowy dresses are best and keep it lightweight because it gets hot and humid. I will be packing my favourite steele. Summer dresses. The air is muggy and the pollution is heavy so a good face wash and skincare products are a must!
